As of 5.4, we have created the ability to auto-generate documents using workflow via Contract Express, when the trigger of the rule is an iSheet.
Building your rule
The following information assumes a basic knowledge of workflow and rule building. To learn more about workflows, click here and to learn more about rule building, click here.
Please note that it is only possible to create automation rules for templates that exist within the site.
Adding a new rule to your workflow
We will start in the Rule builder screen. Within the Rule builder screen, click Add > New rule:
The New rule screen is displayed:
Within the New rule screen, you have 3 tabs; Details, Triggers and Actions.
Details tab
Within the details tab, you need to give your rule a name, a description and select its status:
Once you have entered this information, click Save and continue. You will more onto the Triggers tab:
Triggers tab
For this particular exercise, we are creating a rule for our workflow to create a document from a CE template. This means our trigger needs to be an iSheet record. Once you have selected iSheet record as your trigger, several new fields will be displayed. Select the relevant details for your trigger, and click Save and continue:
Actions tab
The Actions tab will be displayed. Within the Action tab, you can now select the action of Generate document:
Select Generate document as your action. The template field will now be displayed:
Within the Template field, you can select any available Contract Express templates (these templates are set up and enabled elsewhere in the system), and that template will be used to generate your document, once the workflow has been triggered. Once you have selected the template, click Save.
Your new rule for creating a document from a Contract Express template is now created.
Please note that both your rule and workflow must be active for them to be triggered.
Now, once your workflow is triggered, a new document will be created using the Contract Express template you have chosen. Your document will be saved as per the save settings in Contract Express.
