The Preview option in the Doc Auto Word Plugin generates a preview of the automated template using iSheet data, but does not upload the automated template to Collaborate.
How to Preview
At any point during the automation of the template, you can generate a preview. To enable the Preview option you must first 'validate' your template. You don't need to validate again, even if you add more automation, but it is advisable that you validate often to ensure the validity of any changes.
Once you've validated the template, click Preview and choose one of the following further options:
- Sitewide preview - for templates that have been automated to generate a document from more than one record from an iSheet or records from many iSheets, or
- Single record preview - for templates that have been automated to generate a document from a single record of a single iSheet
Sitewide preview
If you click the Sitewide preview option the plugin will send the preview request to the site associated with your template.
Single record preview
If you click Single record preview you must select an iSheet record that will be used to generate the preview document.
Select the iSheet and the iSheet View to use. All the iSheet records available in that iSheet View are displayed. Click the record you want to use and then click Preview.
You can enter keywords in the Quick search field in the top-right corner of the window to find a record.
Generated document
Once you have chosen which Preview you want a request is sent to Collaborate. This returns a Word document which automatically opens and is saved (by default) to your local Downloads folder (see below). The generated Word document will be called Preview of [name of your document].
If you request another Preview without closing the first preview document, then a second Word document is generated and opened. This is also saved to your download location.
We recommend highlighting automated sections so you can quickly find and compare it to the previewed document. The highlight can be removed from the original document after you have completed and checked the automation.
Change the preview download location
You can change the default download location in Settings > Advanced > Download location.
Click Change... to browse to a new location. Click Save to confirm the new location.
