Associations connect a template to columns in iSheets. When you associate a template with iSheet columns, the Doc Auto plugin generates the automation code, with which the user can automate their template.
Once you have created the template associations with the Doc Auto Word Plugin, you should only open the templates with Microsoft Word and not any other word processor.
If you open it with another word processor it will overwrite document properties which is where your associations have been saved.
Important - if Doc Auto is enabled, any user may download and install the plugin, but only a System or Site Administrator may configure and use the plugin as the Doc Auto Plugin must be associated with a site and an isheet to create automated content (i.e. only a System or Site Administrator may perform this step).
Add Association
First, add an Association. Click the Associations icon in the ribbon and then click Add in the panel on the right-hand side. The Association window opens and you can build the first association by selecting a site.
Select a Site, the iSheet dropdown will show iSheets available from that site.
Select an iSheet. All Views available for that iSheet are shown in the View dropdown.
Select a View. All columns in the selected View are shown in the Available box.
Choose the columns you want to associate with the template.
- Use the double arrows to move all the columns into and out of the Selected box.
- Use the single arrows to move selected columns.
Click Add at the bottom of the window to save the column associations in the Associations panel on the right.
Click Add in the Associations panel again to add as many column associations from as many iSheets and Views as required.
Once selected, you cannot change the Site in the Association window.
Edit Association
Click the More Actions icon near the top of the Associations panel. You can Edit the information within the Association panel or you can Remove all of it.
Click Edit to open the Association window. Use the arrow functions to move columns in or out of the Selected box.
Click Update to add all items in the Selected box in the Associations panel.
Remove Association
A More Actions icon next to each iSheet view allows you to Edit or Remove the template associations.
Click Remove. A message window asks you to confirm. Click Yes, to remove the entire iSheet view and columns from the template associations.
Use the red x icon to remove a particular column(s) from an associated iSheet view.
After setting associations, you can use the Variables panel to place variables in the template.

The following iSheet column types are not supported with the Doc Auto Word Plugin. This means that a user will not be able to associate the template with these columns or be able to use them for automation.
